Palm Beach Escorts: Jeffrey Epstein victim says in lawsuit she was recruited as sex slave

July 17th, 2009 by palmbeachhobbyist

In September 2002, the girl took a trip to Thailand by herself, which was paid for by Epstein. It was there that she met and married her husband. She moved with him to Australia, where they have been living a “modest lifestyle.”
She had no contact with Epstein or anyone connected to him until 2008, which is when, the lawsuit says, she received several calls from one of his agents, asking whether she knew any of the girls and women filing lawsuits and if she was going to file one. During one of the calls, Epstein got on the phone himself and questioned her, the lawsuit says.
Epstein, 56, will be released from the Palm Beach County Stockade Wednesday, after serving less than 13 months of his 18-month sentence for procuring a minor for prostitution and soliciting prostitution.

Palm Beach Escorts: Criminal records not unusual among those running sober houses

July 17th, 2009 by palmbeachhobbyist

Among a gossipy bunch, who like to point fingers at others in their business, some said it was another blot on her sober house. One of her top employees is a registered sex offender.
Rice, 53, who said she started New Beginnings about three years ago to help people exorcise their demons, blames her arrest on an overzealous cop. She insists she had nothing to drink on that fateful April evening. A jury in June found her not guilty of drunken driving while convicting her of resisting arrest without violence.
She also staunchly defends George McCracken as a hard worker plagued by an unfortunate tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. McCracken, 52, served a four-year sentence in prison for lewd and lascivious behavior involving a child under 16 and another year for possession of cocaine, according to state records. He was released in 1999. In 2008, he was charged with soliciting prostitution and served two weekends in jail.

Palm Beach Escorts: COLUMN: The slumbering parents

July 17th, 2009 by palmbeachhobbyist

On the last day of school, my teenager brought a friend home to sleep over. The young lady was one of my daughter’s classmates whose parents I had yet to meet or even speak with by phone. As one night turned into several, I wondered why I had not heard from her mother or father.
The girl assured me that her dad, with whom she lived, was aware of her whereabouts because they talked daily by cell. Yet he never once asked to speak with me. Does he not know that when teenagers’ lips are moving, lies are coming out of their mouths? That his princess could have been staying at a boyfriend’s house instead of a girlfriend’s? Or worse?
When I called dad to find out whether his daughter had run away, he was nonchalant. Had no questions for or about me. I could have been running a prostitution ring from my house for all he knew. Yet he was content to let his daughter stay for as long she wanted and I allowed.

Palm Beach Escorts: Appeals Court halts release of Epstein documents

July 17th, 2009 by palmbeachhobbyist

Attorneys for women suing Epstein, and a lawyer for The Palm Beach Post, have argued that the public and media should have access to the information and that the victims should be able to use it in their lawsuits.
Kreusler-Walsh would not comment on the Fourth District’s order.
But Spencer Kuvin, a lawyer for one of the victims, called the decision “frustrating.”
“The rules shouldn’t be different for rich people than they are for poor people,” Kuvin said. “Had Epstein been a regular citizen, and not a billionaire, this document would have been made public a long time ago.”
Epstein pleaded guilty to solicitation of prostitution and procuring teenagers for prostitution. He was sentenced to 18 months incarceration, but is due to get out five months early, on July 22.
