DALLAS (AP) A Jordanian man is pleading not guilty to charges that he tried to blow up a Dallas skyscraper with what he thought was a car bomb. The man (Hosam Maher Smadi) was arrested in September after allegedly parking a truck in a garage underneath the building. In fact, he’d been dealing with FBI agents posing as al-Qaida operatives.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) An autopsy finds that a heart attack caused the death of an associate of jailed financial manager Bernard Madoff (MAY’-dawf). A medical examiner says Jeffry Picower (PIHK’-ow-ur) had a heart attack and drowned while swimming in the pool at his Palm Beach mansion over the weekend. He had been accused by Madoff investors of being the biggest beneficiary of Madoff’s schemes.

There’s a showbiz flavor to part of each program, whether Company B this weekend, or, for Program II, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, which Balanchine choreographed for the 1936 musical On Your Toes (his first Broadway work). It’s the comic tale of a hoofer who battles gangsters and petulant ballet stars for the love of a stripper, and which MCB first (and last) danced in 2001. Program III is Villella’s evening-length The Neighborhood Ballroom, a four-part social and ballroom dance saga completed in 2003 that follows a young poet’s life and romantic travails from the 1912 dawn of the waltz to the mambo explosion of the 1950s. (The company has brought back Yann Trividic, the French dancer who starred as the poet.) And Program IV finishes with Balanchine’s Who Cares?, a jazzy valentine to George Gershwin’s music and insouciant American style.

… In every room there’s a big screen, flat screen TV, including the baby’s room,” said Damian.
Among the cars the Healys acquired, before the scheme unfolded earlier this year: A red Ferarri, valued at $250,000; a yellow Lamborghini, worth another $250,000; two matching black porches, worth $125,000; a stretch limo valued at $100,000; a silver Lamborghini with custom pink trim for Mrs. Healy, valued at $225,000; and a Hummer golf cart, worth $35,000. The total value of all the cars: $1.08 million.
Other gawdy items include a guitar hand-signed by several members of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and some Versace goblets.
To make things worse, Healy, even as he knew authorities were closing in on him, made a $4,000 trip to a strip club just before his arrest, lawyers said.
