WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A New York billionaire jailed for soliciting underage prostitutes in Florida has settled four out of 18 abuse lawsuits by young women.
Jeffrey Epstein’s most recent settlement was approved Sunday by a U.S. District Court judge. It involved a woman who said she was 14 when Epstein paid her for sexual favors.
The 55-year-old money manager pleaded guilty in June to soliciting prostitution from underage girls. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, followed by a year of house arrest.
The terms of the lawsuit settlements are confidential and most of the young women used pseudonyms in court filings.
Epstein’s attorney Robert Critton did not immediately respond to an e-mail from The Associated Press seeking comment. His office was closed for the holidays

It’s four sexual abuse lawsuits down, 14 to go for convicted sex offender and Palm Beach billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein settled one of the civil lawsuits against him earlier this week, the fourth such settlement so far, but still has 14 pending against him, according to the Palm Beach Post.
The 56-year-old Epstein, a successful financier, pled guilty to procuring teenagers for prostitution in 2008 and did 13 months behind bars.
The civil suits have been filed by women who claim they were minors when they were forced to perform sexual favors for him.
The latest settlement involved a woman who claimed she was 14 when Epstein sexually assaulted her. Her lawyer told the Post that his client just wanted the whole thing to end.

A New York billionaire recently imprisoned for soliciting underage prostitution in Florida has disposed of several lawsuits from girls claiming sexual abuse.
However, 14 of 18 claims against Jeffrey Epstein remain. The most recent settlement was approved Sunday by a U.S. District Court judge.
The terms of each have been confidential, but an attorney representing two girls says the deep-pocketed money manager isn’t making it easy. Spencer Kuvin says Epstein’s investigators are digging up intimate details and interviewing ex-boyfriends, family members, employers and friends.
Kuvin says one girl felt so emotionally beat up she wanted to drop the case.
However, another attorney representing seven women says Epstein’s aggressive campaign has only made them more determined to win.

A man returned to his home in the 1000 block of South K Street after being gone from 1 to 5 p.m. He found a kitchen window had been broken during that time.
