According to federal authorities, Fiore oversaw a host of crimes, from burning down his boxing gym, Round 1 Fitness Center in Royal Palm Beach, to extorting business owners over the placement of vending machines. Fiore, 47, consulted with the Bonanno crime family, one of the five Mafia families, and paid tribute to it, federal officials said.
Since their arrests, Fiore, Dunn and the nine other co-defendants have each pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit racketeering. Dunn is the third to be sentenced, with co-defendants Nicholas Fiore, 50, of Boca Raton, receiving a 27-month term Wednesday and Frank D’Amato, 49, of West Palm Beach, getting 41 months behind bars Friday.
Dunn, 44, had been a licensed attorney in Florida since 1991. Starting in 2001, he represented a series of businesses sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission, most notably Starcash, a payday loan business, and its CEO, Jeanne Leclercq. Leclercq, who once ran an Orlando-area brothel, is now serving an eight-year prison sentence for bilking about $8 million from Starcash investors.

Boynton Beach Officer Acquitted Of Assaulting Wife Fired
City Manager Says Legal Standard Of Proof Different From Disciplinary Action
POSTED: 2:14 pm EST January 7, 2010
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A Boynton Beach police officer acquitted of punching his wife and nearly strangling her after a night of drinking at a strip club last year was fired Wednesday.
Officer Thomas Jones was acquitted of strangulation and domestic battery charges stemming from the Jan. 31, 2009, incident in April.
In Jones’ termination letter, City Manager Kurt Bressner said that although Jones was acquitted of the charges, “the legal standard of proof for a criminal case is different from the standard of proof for a disciplinary action as in this matter.”
According to an internal affairs report, Jones became annoyed with his wife’s continued questioning about where he had been, who brought him home and where the vehicle or the keys were, so he punched her in the face, knocked her to the floor and repeatedly kicked her.

A Boynton Beach police officer acquitted in a domestic battery case last year was fired from his job anyways on Wednesday because the department believed the accusations.
Officer Thomas W. Jones, 31, was accused of strangling and beating his wife after a night of drinking at a strip club Jan. 31, 2009, according to the department’s internal investigation report. In April, a judge acquitted Jones of the charges.
“I’m kind of surprised that he got fired,” said Jones’ attorney in the criminal case, Gordon Richstone, in an interview Thursday. “I’m disappointed that he got fired since he was acquitted in the criminal case.”
In Jones’ termination letter, City Manager Kurt Bressner explained that although the officer was acquitted, the police department has a lower standard of proof than a criminal court.

Sweetening the show’s dramatic undercurrents are such irrepressibly hummable songs as “Younger Than Springtime,” “Bali Ha’i” and the frequently reprised “Some Enchanted Evening,” among many others. At nearly three hours, the script of “South Pacific” is a bit long and creaky for the attention spans of today’s theatergoers, but the musical score is truly timeless.
Visually, Michael Yeargan island set is stunning, aided by Donald Holder’s lighting, which often allows exotic Bali Ha’i to appear magically in the distance. “South Pacific” comes from an period before a reliance on special effects, except for the shampoo concentrate that allows Nellie to “wash that man right outa my hair.”
Vocally, Cusack brings to mind Mary Martin, the show’s original Nellie. She has definite chemistry with Howard, so we know they belong together from the first rumbling strains of “Some Enchanted Evening.”
Davis brings dramatically darker dimension to Cable, Keala Settle’s Bloody Mary manages to avoid caricature, even as she pimps her daughter, and Matthew Saldivar as Seabee Luther Billis capably handles the comic relief.

January 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ — Derrick Avery aka “Pimp Snooky”, who now goes by the name of Mr. Marjani, maintains that the FBI gave him the green light to become a pimp. The FBI, through special agent Matt Gibson created, educated and funded Avery to become a Pimp in order for him to infiltrate and befriend the African-American entertainment community including hip-hop artists, athletes and other notorious pimps. Evidence will be introduced in the Federal trial that is expected sometime next year.

Avery further asserts that he was paid by multiple filmmakers to play the fabricated character of a violent Pimp and that none of it, however realistic it may seem, actually happened. According to Avery, the “ho’s” documented in the various films and the Jerry Springer Show were actually the mothers of his children, some of them ex-exotic dancers, but not one of whom has a prostitution charge that he is aware of and that most importantly, it was all staged; including his winning of th …

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Both women were adult protective investigators with the Florida Department of Children and Families. One went so far as to wait in 85-year-old Jane Janssen’s Cocoanut Row apartment and pose as Janssen if the banks called to verify transactions, according to arrest affidavits made public Wednesday.
After investigating, Palm Beach Police Detective Nicholas Caristo arrested Mindi Marie Berry, 33, her DCF supervisor, Greta Laverne Lambert, 41, and a third woman, an employee of an escort service who told police she was hired to cash stolen checks.

… It was a lot of pressure on her. She missed him,” Barnes said. “Every time she spoke about him, she cried. She’d break down and cry. I’d tell her everything would be all right, just be strong and put her trust in God.”
About a month ago, King complained of chest pains.
“On Christmas Eve, she went to her Aunt Rose’s house and talked about the pain of not knowing what happened,” said Michael Emanuel Rajner, a Broward gay activist who befriended King after Simmie’s death.
Rajner said King’s “smile was infectious.”
“Her heart was overflowing with love. She had a memorable hug,” he said. “No anger in her body. Just love – and pain.”
When Simmie was found dead, he was dressed as a woman in an area known for cross-dressing prostitutes. No one knew whether he identified as transgender.
