Palm Beach Strip Clubs: Prosecutors say Salesman picked some targets of probe

March 9th, 2010 by palmbeach-stripper

Budhoo told agents that he was in Salesman’s backyard when Salesman bought marijuana from another man and that he saw Salesman using drugs at numerous parties at his Miramar home. An acquaintance of Budhoo’s also claimed he sold Salesman numerous stolen items, including high-end electronics goods.
According to prosecutors:
In January 2005, Salesman bought a purportedly stolen computer from Budhoo and introduced him to two Miramar public officials, who were not identified, and told them Budhoo could “hook them up” with stolen goods. Salesman also bought a flat-screen TV and computer for someone else.
Budhoo later introduced Salesman to an undercover agent at a North Miami Beach strip club. The agent told Salesman he got to know one of the contractors when he burned down an unprofitable construction project in New York so the man could collect on the insurance policy.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: "Operation Cheap Trick": Ladies of Lake Worth and the Johns Who Love Them

March 8th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

The PBSO booking blotter tells a routinely depressing story about Friday’s “Operation Cheap Trick,” the Sheriff’s Office sting that netted four prostitutes and 18 good-time guys who hit up the wrong girl at the wrong time: They solicited lady police officers dressed like tramps. According to a PBSO news release, complaints from Lake Worth residents were behind the sting. Dixie Highway is now a kinder, gentler place.
Two of the four hookers were charged with felony prostitution: Marilyn Keating and Tammi Moreno had a bunch of priors, for prostitution and, not surprisingly, drug offenses ranging from possession of a controlled substance to paraphernalia. Keating had also been previously arrested for burglary and petit theft. The other two women, Misty Perkins and Patricia Hall, got off with misdemeanors, since Friday night’s shakedown was technically a first offense for both (Perkins had loitering and other minor infractions, including hanging out in a park after hours).

Palm Beach Strip Clubs: Race Card Won’t Play In Commissioner’s Defense

March 8th, 2010 by palmbeach-stripper

Criminally charged politician Fitzroy Salesman’s attorney is fighting his case in the Sun-Sentinel, claiming the FBI used a thuggish gang member as an informant and a shadowy Irishman as a confidential source and that federal agents “sought out” black elected officials to target.
The problem for defense lawyer Jamie Benjamin is that Salesman took the money.
No matter how much Benjamin, a Hollywood lawyer who specializes in defending strip clubs and sex shops, complains in the press, that basic truth is impossible to ignore. Salesman, who had been removed twice from office before for a DUI and for pulling a gun on a fellow customer at a supermarket, took nearly $5,000 from federal agents in exchange for his help in securing government contracts.
And that fact makes the lawyer’s steady stream of protestations seem shallow and a bit desperate as they are splashed on the pages of the Sentinel before the trial, which is scheduled to begin March 22.

Longview police officers arrested 24 people — three women and 21 men — in a prostitution sting on Friday.
All were charged with either prostitution or promoting prostitution, according to jail records.
Sgt. Doug Presson with the Gregg County Sheriff’s Department said the sheriff’s department assisted with the sting, and most of those arrested had posted bail and been released by Saturday afternoon, although several remained in jail. The usual bond amount for prostitution is $1,000.
“It was a pretty good haul,” Presson said.
Most of those arrested were from Longview or surrounding communities, although one was from Florida.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Longview police make numerous arrests in prostitution sting

March 6th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) – Stopping the illegal practice of prostitution has been an ongoing battle for some East Texas law enforcement, spawning numerous sting operations each year. Friday, Longview police went under cover.
“Ok, y’all go get him everybody else stay put,” said the officer.
Working along Highway 80 in unmarked vehicles, using undercover police women and even officers dressed as street people, the sting team set the trap for customers soliciting prostitution.
“If you solicit any kind of prostitution in the City of Longview, specifically out here, you’re going to be caught,” said Sergeant Seth Vanover, with Longview police.
Not knowing who the suspects are, the team stayed close to the female officers.

Over a dozen arrests were made Friday, with all of those arrested being charged with solicitation to prostitution.

Palm Beach Strip Clubs: Former Boynton Beach police officer accused of insurance fraud

March 3rd, 2010 by palmbeach-stripper

Thomas Wesley Jones, 31, and his mother, Ernestine Tina Stamey Jones, submitted false information for auto insurance claims for the same accident in March 2009, according to an affidavit from the Department of Financial Services.
Thomas Jones told Auto Direct Insurance he was driving a 2003 Hummer and clipped a parked car in the 200 block of Northwest Eighth Court in Boynton Beach.
His mother made a claim for the same accident to Allstate Insurance and said she was the driver during that accident. However, her policy had lapsed.
Thomas Jones told investigators he said he was the driver involved in the crash to help expedite the claim. He later said his mother was at the wheel instead.
Last year, Jones was acquitted in a domestic battery case but was fired from his job as a police officer in January. He had been accused of strangling and beating his wife after a night of drinking at a strip club.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Gulbis a little less of an enigma

March 1st, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

It has been one of the mysteries of tennis how the talented, huge-hitting Latvian could play all of 2009 and only twice win back-to-back matches, while two players with whom he shares an August/September, 1988, birth date – Juan Martin del Potro and Marin Cilic – were busy collecting titles and climbing to the top ranks of the game, del Potro to No. 5 and Cilic to No. 15.
Gulbis was as high as No. 38 in the summer of 2008 but fell back to No. 90 by the end of last year.
His commitment and resolve have been frequently questioned because at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, and with good speed around the court, he is an impressive athlete.
The inability to capitalize on his gifts, evident in a series of losses to inferior opponents, earned him a reputation as an under-achiever in a career that probably reached its nadir last October when he was arrested in Stockholm when he and a friend were caught entering a hotel with prostitutes. (In Sweden, the person engaging a prostitute is the offending party.) He was briefly jailed before being released and reportedly paying a fine equivalent to about $400 Canadian.
