… We have runway looks mixed in with sales pieces not shown in New York at the shows. You know two nights before the show, Georgina will suddenly ask, ‘What am I going to wear to the show?’ Then she’ll go drape something and stitch it up and where it. Now obviously you can’t put that on the runway since it was done just a few days before, but now we can.”
Lola Montez was the inspiration for this collection. But we reference the movie version of her life where she’s not only a courtesan, but a dancer in the circus near the end of her life. When we’re picking an inspiration, we are always looking for a character with a romantic side and sex appeal. [Lola Montez] was a courtesan, so there was this fun and flirty side and the circus part gave us the fantasy side.”

Stevens’ claim that he hasn’t moved left, the court has moved right, if stated during a mental competence hearing, would have earned him a straitjacket and a handful of Thorazine.
But because Stevens’ self-characterization comports with the legal left’s position that the Supreme Court’s failure to enact the entire platform of the Green Party constitutes “conservative judicial activism,” it has been reverently repeated.
It’s true that on a few issues, Stevens didn’t change. He has long found any religious practice not crushed by the government to be an “establishment of religion.” Stevens has also never been an enthusiast of tenuous claims to free speech rights, voting to uphold city restrictions on strip clubs in 1976 and voting to uphold a law that prohibited the burning of the American flag in 1989.

The answer to this question is shown in part by recent changes in personnel in both courts. On Friday the oldest member of America’s supreme court – Justice John Paul Stevens – announced his retirement.
The press coverage surrounding the departure of Stevens, who turns 90 this month, has ranged from speculation about his successor to reports that part of a New York strip club was named in his honour – stories that have not surprisingly attracted the attention of international as well as US audiences.
Meanwhile, as Marcel Berlins has unfailingly documented in this column, the UK’s supreme court recently filled its vacant 12th seat after eight months of delay and a series of blunders he quite rightly described as “a shambles”.
Lord Justice Dyson, the newest member of our supreme court, has probably not had any strip clubs named after him. But that is not the only reason his appointment has attracted so little general interest compared with Stevens’s departure.

Here’s your look at the local news this Monday morning:
Horrifying details have emerged in last week’s murder of Nova professor Joseph Morrissey in his Plantation home. Randy Tunidor, 43, a tenant who was to be evicted from a property owned by Morrissey, has been arrested and charged with murder along with his 21-year-old son of the same name. [Sun-Sentinel]
It’s not the first time that murder allegations have swirled around the elder Tunidor, who was charged in a 1990 slaying at a Miami trailer park and who was himself shot and nearly killed. [Daily Pulp]
The case that led ultimately to the corruption conviction of former Miramar Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman started in October 2004 with a tip from a gang member who went by the nickname “Alpo” and said that Salesman bought drugs, prostitutes and stolen goods. [Sun-Sentinel]

… Joe the landlord f—ed with me. He f—ed with the wrong one, and wants to put us on the streets,” his father told him, according to the affidavit.
Randy Tundidor Sr. also told his son where he had hidden two laptops stolen from the Morrisseys.
Friday, Shawn Tundidor went to police and told them his father had confessed to him. Tundidor Sr., 43, was arrested and charged with the same charges as his older son.
This is not the first time Tundidor Sr. has been charged with murder: in the early 1990s, he was accused of playing a part in a bizarre murder-for-hire scheme that eventually turned against him.
Tundidor was accused of joining his then-boss in a murder-for-hire scheme for insurance money. His boss then turned against him, shooting Tundidor Sr. several times.
The charges against Tundidor Sr. were dropped when a witness, a prostitute who said she witnessed the killing, could not be found.

It began with a tip from a gang member who told the FBI in October 2004 that he’d seen Salesman buying drugs in the commissioner’s yard. Salesman, 53, had also bought stolen property and solicited prostitutes, the Bloods member, Alden “Alpo” Budhoo, said.
Agents were intrigued, according to court records and testimony, but weren’t sure where the tip would lead and didn’t want a major investigation riding on the word of a criminal. They had Budhoo peddle some stolen goods, including a flat-screen TV, to Salesman in January 2005 to test his honesty and, two months later, Budhoo introduced the first undercover agent, Anthony Velazquez, into the sting.
It was set up to look like a chance meeting. Salesman and Budhoo were at a strip club in northern Miami where they ran into Velazquez, who Budhoo introduced as his source for stolen property. Salesman didn’t seem perturbed when Velazquez started talking about laundering maybe $2 million.

The case against former Miramar Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman started small – literally in his own backyard – and blossomed into an undercover public corruption sting that would send three Broward County politicians to federal prison and may still yield more arrests.
Salesman’s eight-day trial, which ended Tuesday with his convictions for bribery and extortion, gave a fascinating peek into the high-stakes world of FBI agents who posed as criminals, used fake names and consumed plates of chicken wings to earn the trust of dishonest public officials at secretly recorded meetings.

… I am the senior counsel for the Public Integrity Unit in the State Attorney’s Office,” said Johnson, “and I am here to report that the state of public integrity is good. You know what I am talking about. Three County Commissioners have gone to jail, and two City Commissioners in West Palm Beach have been indicted.”
Sadly, he said, the investigational work been doing also uncovered some violations by some clerks, who made a lot less money than County Commissioners, and some of whom had gone to jail as a result of the investigation. Johnson said that the money being offered these hard-working people had proved to be too tempting, especially when they probably had a lot bills to pay and children to raise. He drew upon a prostitution analogy because most of the offenders were women, and the people bringing the money in were men. What would other people, like these, do when confronted with that much money. It would prove to be too tempting to resist, he said.

The owner of a former strip club in Boynton Beach was sentenced to five years of probation on charges of racketeering and sale of prostitution, the State Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Matt Barrow, 53, of Lake Park, was sentenced through a plea deal struck Monday.
Barrow, former owner of the now-defunct Platinum Showgirls, voluntarily forfeited his alcohol and adult entertainment licenses and dissolved the corporation that operated the strip club, prosecutors said. Barrow also forfeited the $22,890 seized and is prohibited from working in or establishing any business in any adult entertainment field.
City police, working with state and federal agencies, investigated the club at 1115 N. Federal Highway before a raid in October. In June, undercover detectives started buying hundreds of dollars’ worth of cocaine and prescription drugs from strippers there, police said.
