Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Hastings recognizes Ms. Essie ‘Big Mama’ Reed as a Hastings’ Hero

September 29th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

Big Mamas impact on Fort Lauderdale began in 1988. When her youngest son was just a month old, Big Mamas husband abandoned the family, leaving them homeless. For the next three years, Big Mama and her three sons slept on the concrete floor of the fish market she owned. Despite being destitute and unable to provide her sons with such basic things as school supplies, Big Mama and her boys regularly prayed after school at the Royal Assembly Church.
It is her triumph over personal adversity that inspired Big Mama to begin a crusade of personal outreach. Realizing how fortunate she was to have caring neighbors who provided her and her sons with basic needs, Big Mama decided to give back by helping at-risk youth avoid the common street predators of drugs, gangs, and prostitution.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Police: foreclosures lead to prostitution increase

September 28th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

On Tuesday afternoon with a looming tropical system, West Palm Beach police rounded-up 12 people on charges of prostitution and/or solicitation of prostitution.
“It started to become a big problem again recently. Probably over the last 30 to 60 days,” said Sgt. Wendy Detter.
Officers say escalating foreclosures, especially in the city’s north end just off Broadway are a main reason for the increase.
Abandoned homes tend to attract prostitute squatters.
Also, fewer people living in the neighborhood means fewer concerned neighbors keeping an eye out on the problem.
Suspect john 44-year-old Louis Hall of Boynton Beach says he was simply minding his own business driving down Dixie south of Belvedere when he claims he was accosted by the bogus prostitute.

Hall was charged with solicitation of prostitution. City police also picked up 4 accused prostitutes.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Cruise ship passenger (mistakenly) arrested for prostitution

September 18th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

FORT LAUDERDALE – Florida news outlets were abuzz over the story of a cruise ship passenger mistakenly arrested at Fort Lauderdale’s port on a prostitution-related charge.
Paola Londono, 31, of Orlando was taken into custody on Sunday at Port Everglades moments after stepping off an unnamed ship that had returned from a voyage to the Caribbean.
The Orlando Sentinel reports police confused Londono for a 24-year-old woman with the same name wanted in Florida’s Osceola County.
Despite her pleas of innocence — and the fact she looked nothing like the mug shot of the wanted woman — Londono was kept locked up in a Broward County jail for more than 36 hours, according to the news outlet.
“Our database had two Paola Londonos in the system,” Osceola County sheriff’s spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain told the Sentinel. “How the names crossed is going to be something that we will be looking into.”

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Banks win delay in demolition of abandoned Fort Lauderdale condo complex

September 17th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

The extension came even though the banks offered the board no evidence of any plans being drawn up. They also had failed to follow through on promises to pay for the shutters – which are costing Fort Lauderdale taxpayers $6,000 a month.
“This is an unsafe structure and there has been delay after delay and continuance after continuance,” neighborhood activist Pamela Adams said.
The neighborhood, along with city building inspectors, began pressing in June to take the drastic step of razing the five buildings just off Sistrunk Boulevard. The complex had been converted to condos in 2005, but then came the recession and now almost every unit is either owned by a bank or in the process of foreclosure.
There’s been no running water for a year. The condo association is defunct. Police officers refer to the area as The Hole because it’s where suspects on the run often disappear. Nearby homeowners say drug-dealing and prostitution is rampant.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: 4 arrested in Pompano Beach escort service that sent women to Palm Beach …

4 arrested in Pompano Beach escort service that sent women to Palm Beach County callers
By Linda Trischitta
Sun-Sentinel Staff Writer
POMPANO BEACH — State police said Tuesday that they arrested four operators of an escort business that sent women to clients in three counties, including Palm Beach County.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said a 32-month joint investigation with the Boca Raton Police Department led to charges of racketeering, deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution and money laundering against four Broward County residents.

According to FDLE spokeswoman Kristen Chernosky, All Perfect Tens Escort Service was run from a strip mall at 1280 S. Powerline Road in Pompano Beach.

Detectives believe that at least one of the females working for the escort service is underage, and Chernosky said the investigation is continuing.

All Perfect Tens Escort Service had up to 30 escorts, according to the FDLE.

Palm Beach Strip Clubs: Felon who opened club accused in covert sex slavery ring

September 13th, 2010 by palmbeach-stripper

An entrepreneur with a history of shady dealings in the nightclub industry capitalized on a state regulator’s lackluster oversight to open bars and a strip club in Palm Beach County, according to The Palm Beach Post.
The nightspots, concentrated along a stretch of Military Trail between Forest Hill Boulevard and Lake Worth Road, long have been associated with violence, crime and controversy.

But documents kept in ABT’s own files indicate Genovese was intimately involved with the businesses. In the most glaring example, a promissory note for $50,000 attached to an application for Senoritas Cabaret, a strip club on Belvedere Road, lists Genovese’s name in describing the company that runs the club, suggesting he had an interest in the business. The application’s disclosure section, however, lists the company’s sole shareholder as Giancarlo Dibattista, Genovese’s cousin.

Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Fort Lauderdale Detective to Be Fired for Trying to Mislead Investigators …

September 10th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

The Internal Affairs investigation detailing Maldonado’s most recent case is still pending, so it is not available for public review. But Maldonado’s Internal Affairs file lists a number of other cases from the past 18 months that follow a similar arc:
A man named Shawn Dunn alleged that Maldonado gave him $100 to “get him a girl.” The complaint was dismissed for lacking evidence.
A woman named Ruth Stager made a complaint to the department alleging that Maldonado made visits to an apartment building on SE 20th Street, where he was known by the code name “Ghost.” Stager alleged that Maldonado gave Perez drugs and received sex in exchange. The investigation was closed for lack of evidence after sources declined to participate.
In May 2009, a woman who was a “known prostitute” told an FLPD captain that she had a sexual relationship with Maldonado. But when sergeants approached the woman for a follow-up interview, she refused to cooperate. The investigation was closed for lack of evidence.
