… I use blatant language,” but “I try to keep it funny,” said Matthew, a licensed clinical social worker affiliated with South Palm Beach County’s Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service. “They’re not 12-year-old virgins.”
Matthew said she warns attendees that she will use frank language to get her prevention messages across. At a recent program, two women left when she broached the topic of oral sex. “I give them facts, not judgments,” she said. “What’s normal? Norm is the name of some guy in Brooklyn.”
“I say to them, ‘You have to look out for yourself; you think because you can’t get pregnant, you don’t have to be careful,’” Matthew said. “I think, in general, most people are surprised [by the message]. They think it’s not going to happen to them. Most of the women were married to one man for 40 years. In their minds, STDs are for prostitutes.”

Novack, 54, who once slept on satin sheets and wore designer suits, has bitterly complained about her prison digs since her arrest in July 2010 in the murder of husband Ben Novack Jr., a successful convention planner and heir to the Fontainebleau hotel fortune. Prosecutors allege that Novack and her brother, Cristobal Veliz, 57, orchestrated the 2009 murder-for-hire plots of her husband and her mother-in-law in order to inherit the family’s fortune.
Novack, a former Hialeah stripper, and Veliz, a Brooklyn tour bus operator, now face six additional felony counts, including committing murder in the aid of racketeering, which carries a mandatory life prison term. Last month, Assistant U.S. Attorney Elliott Jacobson announced the government would not seek the death penalty for the duo, but that he would add tougher charges to ensure that they would live out their lives behind bars.

Afterwards, he spent several years fighting drug dealers on the streets of Broward County but admits that that was a “frustrating time”.
“It appeared as if we kept arresting the same people. It just seemed as if we could not keep them (the drug dealers) in jail for any time. It was like a turn-style.”
He said Jamaicans were among the drug dealers he encountered but most of the anti-narcotics activities involving the infamous ‘Jamaican Posse’ was under the jurisdiction of federal law enforcement.
Smalling went next to the Organised Crime Division, chasing big drug dealers, human traffickers and the like. He treasured the opportunity to work more closely with local, state and federal level agencies on more long term cases. In the girls trafficked as prostitutes from other countries he did not come across any Jamaicans, noting that most came from Eurasia.

2 accused of running up tab on dead man’s ATM card
DENVER (AP) — Two men accused of driving around with a dead friend, using his ATM card and visiting a strip club are charged with abusing a corpse, identity theft and criminal impersonation.
Robert Jeffrey Young and Mark Rubinson are free on bond but they couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.
It’s unclear how Jeffrey Jarrett died, but the men are not charged in his death.
The Denver Post reports that an affidavit accuses Young and Rubinson of leaving Jarrett’s body in the car while they drank at a bar on his tab Aug. 27.
Investigators allege the men stopped at a restaurant, returned Jarrett’s body to his home, used Jarrett’s ATM card and withdrew $400 at a strip club before reporting Jarrett’s death.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is back at the Broward Stage Door Theatre a dozen years after the company first presented it. And once again, director Dan Kelley is doing double duty by starring as Pseudolus, a wily Roman slave determined to scheme his way to freedom.
Pseudolus is, demonstrably, the kind of role that wins awards. Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers and Nathan Lane all captured best actor Tony Awards for their takes on a comic gem. The way the amiable Kelley plays the part, though, is more comic cubic zirconia. Ditto with most of the rest of the cast, the happy exceptions being the forceful yet funny Ken Clement as the henpecked and lecherous Senex, Mark A. Harmon as slick courtesan procurer Marcus Lycus, Shane R. Tanner as the oafishly self-adoring Miles Gloriosus, Ricky Dain Jones as the oft-hysterical Hysterium and Jack Livesey as sweet old Erronius.

Woman pleads guilty to sex trafficking
Published: Sept. 8, 2011 at 1:26 PM
OAKLAND PARK, Fla., Sept. 8 (UPI) — An operator of a brothel pleaded guilty to sex trafficking charges in Florida district court.
Laschell “Shelly” Harris, 37, rented the house in Oakland Park, Fla., called the Boom Boom Room, where she and boyfriend James “Red” Mozie ran a brothel offering food, alcohol, drugs and sex with women and underage girls, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
Harris pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single count of sex trafficking. Federal prosecutors dropped four other sex trafficking charges against the former medical assistant and mother of three.
Some of the girls working in the house described Harris as a house mother who would cook for them, court records show. Records also show she collected money from the girls and women, sold food and alcohol to customers and occasionally watched Mozie have sex with them as part of “orientation.”

Live: John Vanderslice Witnesses Cop Bust, Marriage Proposal at Speakeasy Lounge, September 1
John Vanderslice
With John Ralston
The Speakeasy Lounge, Lake Worth
Thursday, September 1, 2011
Better Than: Proposing at a baseball game.
San Francisco singer/songwriter John Vanderslice had stories aplenty during his Thursday-evening gig at Lake Worth’s charming den of sounds, the Speakeasy Lounge. And one was about his rental car, which was only $11.95 a day! “We should all rent cars and go fucking crazy,” the bleached-blond fella told the masses sprinkled around the low-ceilinged room filled with mirrored walls and support beams not round enough to be considered stripper poles. Although some folks were close enough to the blacklight-lit stage “for me to see your dental work,” plenty opted to hang back.
Vanderslice’s songs are brimming with personal details — many that the assembled crowd knew by heart — and thus it’s easy to call him a songwriter’s songwriter in the realm of Andrew Bird or Iron and Wine’s Sam Beam. Since he …

Okay, full disclosure, when I was nine and in summer camp, our counselors taught us this song. I remember walking in line, with 30 other nine year olds singing “Nine and nice, she licked my ass!” I also remember singing this in front of my older sister, she freaked out, and made it very clear to me that under no circumstances would I utter any 2 Live Crew Lyrics in front of our parents ever.
2. “Me So Horny”
Even though I really loved bad words as a little kid, I always preferred the censored version. “Sitting at home watching Arsenio Hall” is much more clever lyric than “sitting at home with my dick on hard.” Fun fact: I had no idea this song came after Full Metal Jacket. When I saw that movie, years later, I was convinced that they made the Vietnamese prostitute sound like the girl in this song.
