L.A. film critic Kenneth Turan calls it “…a great gust of very funny fresh air.”
Starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, this film will be shown Oct. 27-31, with shows weekdays and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (no Saturday matinee) and Sunday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. “The Guard” is rated R for language, some violence, drug material and sexual content, and runs for 100 minutes.
An unorthodox Irish policeman (Gleeson) with a confrontational personality is teamed up with an uptight FBI agent (Cheadle) to investigate an international drug-smuggling ring. Sgt. Gerry Boyle is a small-town Irish cop with a subversive sense of humor, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought straight-laced FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door.

An Internet search reveals one of the races Mezzapelle participated in was the “12th Annual Dare to Go Bare 5k Run” in Lutz in 2004. (If you’re curious, his time was 29 minutes, 39 seconds.) Mezzapelle, who says he has run in about “half a dozen” nudist 5k races, is hesitant to discuss his nude racing, which he says is “perfectly legal” and “not an appropriate part of the conversation for what I’m trying to accomplish.”
Fair or unfair, Stuart voters will decide what is “appropriate.”
Mortell, who has not endorsed either Glass or Mezzapelle, is skeptical about voters’ willingness to elect a candidate — who occasionally participates in nudist 5k races — to the commission.
“No doubt about it — nude running (in sanctioned races) is legal behavior,” Mortell said. “But so is Rachel’s Strip Club (in West Palm Beach). The defense, ‘it’s legal,’ is not an absolute defense in this community, which has repeatedly expressed its desire to regulate this type of business.”

Commissioners Hope Public Shame Will Help Curb City’s Growing Prostitution ProblemPOSTED: 11:31 am EDT October 19, 2011
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — West Palm Beach is hoping that publicly shaming johns will help curb the city’s growing prostitution problem.
City commissioners agreed Monday to post the booking photos of those arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution online.
The city got national attention with a similar program in the 1990s, but it was disbanded after a man who was later acquitted sued the city.

When commissioners were considering reenacting the law in May, Commissioner Kimberly Mitchell told WPBF 25 News that posting the pictures of those who have been arrested on the city’s website would help to cut down on prostitution.
…
“It’s a crime, and if they have families at home they should be home with their wife and children,” Stephens told WPBF 25 News in May. “They shouldn’t be picking up prostitutes.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — One South Florida city is hoping public shaming will help curb prostitution.
The West Palm Beach city commission agreed Monday to post online the booking photos of those arrested to soliciting prostitutes.
The city got national attention with a similar program in the 1990s, but it was disbanded after a man who was later acquitted sued the city. This time around, West Palm Beach will only post the photos of those arrested more than once.
The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/pA0ubV) reports prostitution has been on the rise in the city’s north end during the economic downturn.

The city commission voted Monday to post arrest photos of people busted for soliciting prostitutes a second time on the city’s website, according to WPTV.
Mayor Jeri Muoio agreed not to post photos of first-time offenders after she attended a Prostitution Impact Prevention Education course that educates first-time offenders
“We didn’t want to interfere with the success they have in that program,” Muoio said. “We decided that second-time, multiple offenders would be the way to target it.”
The city had a similar program in the 1990s, but it was dropped after a man whose name was printed was acquitted and sued the city and won a $10,000 settlement.

Residents say the economic downturn has prostitution more popular than ever in West Palm, and some say repeat offenders deserve the public shaming.

Before Philadelphia police found Linda Ann Weston with four disabled adults chained in her apartment cellar, before those same adults lived with her at a home in West Palm Beach, the 51-year-old woman had already done time for another horror in her closet: the death-by-starvation of her sister’s lover.
Weston served eight years for her role in that man’s death. And she was out before the 1990s rung in.
By last October, Weston and Eddie Wright moved into a rental home at 52nd Street and Manning Avenue in northern West Palm Beach, and by January the city had cut off their water over an $810 delinquent bill, city spokesman Chase Scott said.
They continued to live there, tapping illegally into the city’s water supply, until they were evicted June 1, according to Scott and Palm Beach County court documents.
In between, Scott says the police were called to the area for a variety of petty complaints ranging from an overgrown yard to prostitutes working near the home.

JENSEN BEACH — A man accused of involvement in a prostitution business, shooting a man and intimidating another with a gun at his trailer was arrested Thursday following events earlier this month involving his 21-year-old wife and Internet ads for “companionship,” records show.
The records supporting the arrest of Daniel Diodato, 27, contain statements from Kyle Hicks, the 33-year-old sex offender who was shot, and another man that give a different account from what’s been released about the Oct. 3 events at the Diodato trailer home in the 80 block of Northeast 15th Terrace.
…
Daniel Diodato was arrested Thursday on charges including deriving support from proceeds of prostitution, possession or use of firearm by person engaged in criminal offense, aggravated assault — firearm and aggravated battery — deadly weapon.
Sarah Diodato was arrested Monday on two counts of engaging in prostitution.
