Lake Worth couple charged with running prostitution out of apartment

LAKE WORTH
, Fla. — Authorities arrested a Lake Worth duo Thursday after they were accused of offering sex for $25 while playing the role of pimp and prostitute.
Miguel Gomez Miranda, 51, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $8,500 bond. He is facing charges of living off the earnings of a prostitute.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Sandra Peralta, who is facing prostitution charges, was released on her own recognizance. Though Circuit Court Judge Mark Eissey offered her the option to plead guilty and pay a fine, a lack of understanding on her behalf forced him to set a hearing for a later date while releasing her from the county jail.

Church gets $12K to fix former strip club

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Jan. 20 (UPI) — A Florida congregation preparing to move into a closed-down strip club said it received a $12,000 donation from a megachurch.
Eglise Assemblee Evangelique de Christ, a 250-strong congregation of mostly Haitian-Americans, paid $600,000 in May to buy the former home of Platinum Showgirls at 1115 N. Federal Highway and has since fallen on difficult financial times while working to fix up the space to the satisfaction of Boynton Beach city officials, The Palm Beach Post reported Friday.
Pierre Dumont, pastor of Eglise Assemblee, said Leo Abdella, a pastor and director of community relations for the Christ Fellowship megachurch in Palm Beach Gardens, visited the site the day after reading an article about Eglise Assemblee’s financial hardships.

As far as SFGN can tell the operation started sometime between 2005 and 2007 and lasted until 2010. During that time the two police officers made more than 600 arrests of purportedly gay men in public parks throughout Palm Beach County, from Jupiter to Boca. More than half of the arrests were men aged 45 to 70.
That was the detectives’ only job – going undercover and soliciting men for sex and then arresting them. SFGN did not come across any arrests of men having sex with women and only a handful of arrests that involved two men. Even though SFGN requested all of the arrest records that both detectives made since 2007, only about 320 were handed over. The others may have occurred before SFGN’s request.
A few arrests, though, were of female prostitutes, but none were of female detectives soliciting straight males in parks. If that were the case Russell Cormican is sure plenty of straight men would be arrested. Out of all of the men Cormican has represented none of the men were straight men busted by a female cop.

People magazine has reported that Anthony is living in Port St. Lucie. Tatsha Robertson, a senior editor at People Magazine, told CNN’s “Early Start” this morning how writer Steve Helling figured out Anthony’s whereabouts. She is serving a year’s probation for check fraud somewhere in Florida.
