Tinsley Ellis performs at the Back Room in Boca Raton. (Veda Jo Jenkins / sflimages.com)
Dixie Highway is dark along this stretch in Boca Raton. There doesn’t seem to be much of anything except freight cars on the train tracks. There is a bright light up ahead: it reads The Back Room. Looking more like a last pit stop on a lonely highway, the Back Room is deceiving. Inside playing his soul out on the guitar is legendary blues artist Tinsley Ellis.
When you enter you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, perhaps transported to an old brothel in New Orleans. The walls are painted red; the couches are red too and on the walls are plastered with multitudes of framed art of women. What is this place?

Three Broward County men pleaded guilty Monday to conspiring to recruit young girls for an Internet-based prostitution ring, after a Fort Lauderdale federal judge rejected a bid to have the charges thrown out based on unfair treatment of the defendants.
Miami attorney Joel DeFabio had claimed that the U.S. attorney’s office violated the due-process rights of his client, Johnny Saintil, 28, a Haitian American who pleaded guilty along with Stanley Wilson, 26, and Michael Defrand, 25, just before trial.
They face up to life imprisonment at their sentencing Nov. 19.
Saintil’s lawyer said prosecutors committed “selective prosecution” on the basis of race and class because they decided not to bring similar charges against a Palm Beach billionaire, Jeffrey Epstein.
U.S. District Judge William Zloch disagreed, denying the dismissal motion, which was joined by Wilson and Defrand.

Former U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Palm Beach Gardens, presented himself as a family man who wanted to create a better nation for us and our children. We saw how that went. Democratic primary candidate Jeff Greene, too, has that goal, and it appears he has changed from what media reports describe as some serious connections to a party crowd in Los Angeles.
Greene is friends with Heidi Fleiss, a former Hollywood prostitute and madame with a record of jail time and drug abuse since Greene loaned her a room in his Los Angeles mansion years back. But he says that he supports people who redeem themselves and empathizes with those who suffered an outrageous fortune even if they brought it upon themselves.
Unless you happen to be his opponent, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Miami.

Miami SWAT Buying Body Armor From Company Linked to Fraud, Prostitution
In the chaos that followed the attacks of September 11, 2001, David H. Brooks got rich. He transformed a small, struggling company called DHB Industries into one of the biggest body armor manufacturers in the nation, supplying American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Stock prices soared from $2 to $20.
But as business boomed, so did expenses: luxury cars, prostitutes for his employees, plastic surgery for his wife, even a $100,000 bejeweled belt buckle befitting Tony Stark himself — at least according to prosecutors in New York, where Brooks is on trial for fraud.
Now Brooks’s old company, renamed Point Blank Solutions, has moved to Pompano Beach. And despite filing for bankruptcy and questions over the quality of its products, Point Blank is selling body armor to Miami’s SWAT team.

Palm Beach, Florida – Jeffrey Edward Epstein, 57, a Palm Beach billionaire who pleaded guilty to soliciting an underage girl for prostitution and received a one year house arrest sentence, is a free man today.
When very young girls and women came forward with allegations of performing sexual massages on Epstein, he was allowed to quickly cut a deal with prosecutors. He plead guilty to just one count of soliciting prostitution, hence the house arrest punishment.
But wait! There’s more!

Jeffrey Epstein, Convicted Pedophile And Former Hedge Fund Titan, Now A Free Man
Published: July 22, 2010
Huffington Post
Jeffrey Epstein, the former hedge fund manager who pleaded guilty to soliciting an underage girl for prostitution, is now free of the year-long house arrest he’s been serving in his Florida home.
At the Daily Beast, Conchitta Sarnoff has some startling new details of Epstein’s alleged interactions with young women. Sarnoff spoke to Micheal Reiter, the former chief of police in Palm Beach, Florida, who gave her exclusive access to a previously sealed deposition, which shows a disturbing pattern of allegations:
“In March 2005, Reiter’s department, acting on a complaint from the Florida parents of a 14-year-old girl, launched an investigation that would eventually uncover a pattern of predatory behavior stretching back years and spanning several continents, knowingly enabled by Epstein’s associates and employees. Two or three times a day, whenever Epstein was in Palm Beach, a teenage girl would be brought to the mansio …
