Rothstein makes allegations about cops, prostitutes
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — A convicted South Florida Ponzi schemer has issued some shocking allegations.
On Tuesday, the Sun-Sentinel made public 950 pages of transcripts taken from Scott Rothstein’s 10-day testimony to lawyers investigating his Ponzi scheme.
Attorneys are attempting to recover money for victims of Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, for which he was busted in December of 2009. William Schere represents some of the victims. Earlier this month, he said, “As he said, very convincingly, ‘I don’t want to die in prison, and the only way I can’t not die in prison is by telling the truth.’”

Rothstein also talked about how he frowned upon drug use but had no issues with prostitutes hanging around his office since he felt protected on that front. According to the billion-dollar convicted Ponzi schemer, officers from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies were having sexual relations with high-priced escorts that he hired.

James Mozie, who was running a brothel full o’ kids in Oakland Park for about a year, was found guilty by a jury yesterday on 10 counts ranging from sex trafficking of minors to producing child pornography.
Seven different victims testified at the trial that they were recruited to work at Mozie’s house of child prostitution named the “Boom Boom Room,” where he had security guards, sent out advertisements, and even had special job-application forms for potential underage prostitutes.
According to court documents, the Broward Sheriff’s Office got a tip about a house of prostitution in Oakland Park, and that some of the girls were under 18.
Based on the tip, the BSO found a 16-year-old prostitute employed at the house in Oakland Park, and she sat down for an interview with investigators.

Fla. man guilty of teen sex trafficking
OAKLAND PARK, Fla., Dec 21, 2011 (UPI via COMTEX) –
A 34-year-old South Florida man has been convicted of recruiting underage girls to provide lap dances and have sex with customers at a brothel.
A jury found James Mozie guilty Tuesday of eight counts of child sex trafficking, one count of conspiring to commit child sex trafficking and one count of producing child pornography by taking cellphone photographs of an underage girl, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Mozie, who ran the Oakland Park brothel named the Boom Boom Room in a house in an industrial area, was convicted of all 10 federal charges against him and faces a possible sentence of life in prison on each when he is sentenced Feb. 28.
Witnesses testified Mozie, accompanied by his wife, lured girls on the street by promising he could get them modeling and dancing jobs.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Palm Beach County voters will get to decide the fate of slot machines, a vote which could potentially open the door to casinos.
Tuesday county commissioners took a final vote on putting a referendum on the election ballot next November. Voters will be asked to ‘okay’ slots at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.
At Tuesday’s meeting most speakers spoke against the ballot measure.
“We are really opposed because we know gambling is going to bring a lot of devastation, a lot of prostitution. It’s going to bring all negative things to the county in the long run,” said Pastor Alvaro Hernandez, World of Life International.
“If this issue does pass, it will in fact provide jobs for our community and be able to assist us because we need some serious economic development,” said Dorothy Walker, Bell Glade Resident.
