PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 30 (UPI) — A man with a criminal past has ties to several Florida bars, including a strip club linked to a sex slavery investigation, The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reports.
The newspaper reported Sunday its own investigation revealed state regulators failed to detect the role of Anthony Genovese, 33, a convicted felon, played in the nightspots, which also are associated with three slayings in the past 20 months.
One of the Palm Beach County clubs, El Rancho Sports Bar and Restaurant, is where two sisters from Honduras, forced into the sex industry, were made to dance for men, the newspaper said.

The Post said, however, it found Genovese’s name listed on a promissory note attached for an application for a strip club, Senoritas Cabaret, suggesting he had an interest in the business. The newspaper said his initials were found 26 times on other documents, as well.

Ex-stripper pleads guilty to robbery, attempted murder in 2008 shooting near West Palm

WEST PALM BEACH
— A woman accused of a robbery plot with others and the violent shooting outside the Sugar Daddy strip club that ended it, pleaded guilty Monday to attempted first-degree murder and robbery charges.
Sheila K. Martins, formerly of Boynton Beach, could face up to life in prison when she is sentenced September 7. Martins made her plea directly to a judge who will have the ultimate discretion then in her penalty. According to a court record, Martins pleaded guilty in her “best interest” – a signal she could be acknowledging only a jury may well convict of the crimes.
Martin’s criminal defense attorney, Assistant Regional Counsel Ronnie Mason, did not respond to calls for comment.

Earlier today, one of the women, a 27-year-old now living in Palm Beach Gardens, testified of her experience. In a flat, calm voice, she recounted responding to a meet-up request via livelinks.com. The man, she said, flashed a badge, said he was a cop, tried to cuff her, and told her that she had to give him something in return for not arresting her for soliciting.
The woman said she conceded to having sex after seeing a gun and a badge, just to be able to get out of there.
“I thought I was in deep doo-doo to be honest with ya,” she testified.
Afterwards, Martin threw the condom out the window, she said, and she escaped from the vehicle with it.
“At the time a red light went off in my head, this must be the stupidest cop ever!” she testified.
The woman, a former stripper, acknowledged having been paid for sex before, carried condoms in her purse, serviced people’s fetishes, and advertising herself on Craigslist as 100% USDA Beef.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies say two groups were asked to leave Goldfingers Gentlemen’s Club early Saturday morning after a fight broke out. Once outside, the unidentified victim grabbed a handgun from a car and began shooting.
According to deputies, the security guard warned the victim to drop the gun several times before firing a single shot that killed him.

A man was shot and killed by a security officer outside Goldfinger Gentlemen’s Club at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was identified as Reicko R. Jones, 27, of Riviera Beach.
Two groups of men had been fighting inside the strip club, located in suburban Riviera Beach, and were removed by a staffer just before the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said. Once outside the club, the victim pulled a handgun out of a nearby vehicle and began shooting at one of the groups.
The armed security officer warned the man, whose name was not released, to drop the gun several times before firing the single shot that struck and killed him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.
