Palm Beach Adult Entertainment: Plantation buys former site of mobile homes

March 25th, 2010 by adultpalmbeach

Aiming to control its future development, the city spent $385,000 on land formerly occupied by a mobile home park.
The city council on Wednesday voted to use Community Redevelopment Agency funds to buy 1.1 acres at Peters Road and State Road 7, where the Pine Ridge Trailer Park once stood.
The park, with dozens of rental mobile homes, closed two or three years ago. The land would have been sold at an April 8 foreclosure auction if the council hadn’t acted.
Temporarily, it could become a passive park; long-term, it could be sold for commercial development.
Councilman Bob Levy said the need to control what happens at the site is critical, considering its history.
“It was the quintessential trashy [trailer] park,” Levy said. “It was a harbor of prostitution and drug deals on a regular basis.”
