Billionaire’s Butler Gets Prison Time
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A former butler for a New York billionaire jailed for soliciting underage prostitutes in Florida is getting a prison sentence of his own.
Alfredo Rodriguez was handed a sentence of 18 months , the same time his former boss Jeffrey Epstein received for trying to sell a journal that documented the billionaire’s sexual exploits.
U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra acknowledged Friday it didn’t make sense to give Rodriguez the same sentence as Epstein, but said if the man had handed over the journal when investigators asked for it, Epstein could have received a tougher penalty instead of a plea deal.
Rodriguez instead tried to sell the journal for $50,000 to an attorney representing one of nearly two dozen women who have filed civil lawsuits against Epstein.
