Palm Beach Escorts: Criminal records not unusual among those running sober houses
July 17th, 2009 by palmbeachhobbyistAmong a gossipy bunch, who like to point fingers at others in their business, some said it was another blot on her sober house. One of her top employees is a registered sex offender.
Rice, 53, who said she started New Beginnings about three years ago to help people exorcise their demons, blames her arrest on an overzealous cop. She insists she had nothing to drink on that fateful April evening. A jury in June found her not guilty of drunken driving while convicting her of resisting arrest without violence.
She also staunchly defends George McCracken as a hard worker plagued by an unfortunate tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. McCracken, 52, served a four-year sentence in prison for lewd and lascivious behavior involving a child under 16 and another year for possession of cocaine, according to state records. He was released in 1999. In 2008, he was charged with soliciting prostitution and served two weekends in jail.
