MUOIO: There was a group of people from Northwood Harbor, and not too long ago I attended one of their neighborhood meetings and I heard some really emotional pleas for help. These people were feeling under siege, unable to walk in their neighborhood. Prostitutes are parking in front of their houses. Crime in the neighborhood, no one who lives in our city should be feeling that way. We need to take a very active approach to dealing with these hard to address issues. There are a lot of police here today, and we need to figure out with police how to get in there clean up the area. Only two policemen right now covering that area, and it’s a large area all the way up to 59th street. There’s a large amount of crime. We need to deploy more staff, more police and get neighbors involved.”
