October 31st, 2009 by palmbeach-stripperBoynton Beach Police shut down Platinum Showgirls strip club Friday night following an undercover investigation that resulted in more than 50 felony and misdemeanor charges against 30 employees for drug sales, underage drinking and prostitution.
The club, located at 1115 N. Federal Highway, also violated county ordinances by allowing many of their dancers to engage in lap dances and working without identification cards, according to Public Information Officer Stephanie Slater.
“This establishment has generated numerous complaints not only from the residential neighborhoods nearby, but from citizens throughout the city,” Boynton Beach Police Chief G. Matthew Immler said. “Tonight’s operation is the culmination of that investigation and the reduction of untoward illegal activity that adversely affects the safety of our citizens and the image of our city.”
Going on a tip that dancers were selling drugs, in June, undercover officers began visiting the club. Within days, they were able to buy hundreds of dollars in cocaine and prescription painkillers from dancers, Slater, said.
