Palm Beach Strip Clubs: Undercover videos played in Salesman corruption trial

March 24th, 2010 by palmbeach-stripper

Prosecutors say Salesman was still bound by city and state rules and that he took the cash when he was a commissioner.
The defense played lengthier portions of the recordings where Salesman talked about legitimate development opportunities in Miramar. He repeatedly said, in colorful language, that his position didn’t allow him to make backroom deals and that he didn’t want to be around when the contractors “greased palms.”
“You can’t do that in today’s world. Someone is going to prison and I ain’t going to prison,” Salesman said on tape.
FBI special agent Anthony Velazquez testified he met Salesman when an informant introduced them at a strip club. Velazquez posed as a slick criminal who wanted to launder money and help a contractor get government contracts in South Florida. Velazquez introduced the politician to other “contractors” and said they’d been involved in arson and insurance fraud.
